EID AL-FITR 2026: JOIN US FOR SALAAH AND CELEBRATION! 

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil Hamd.

As the blessed month of Ramadan draws to a close, we pray that Allah (SWT) accepts our fasting, our nightly prayers, and our devotion. It is with great joy that we invite you and your family to join the community for Eid al-Fitr Salaah!

To ensure everyone can pray comfortably and safely, we will be hosting two separate Eid Jamaats this year at the Norlane Arc.

Please review the schedule and important guidelines below to help ensure the day runs smoothly and is enjoyable for everyone.

Arrive earlier to join the Sunnah of Takbeer.

First Jamaat:

• 7:30 AM: Eid Prayer

Important Community Guidelines

To help our volunteer team manage the crowds and ensure a beautiful experience for all, please keep the following in mind:

• Zakat al-Fitr: A reminder that Zakat al-Fitr is exactly $20 per person and must be paid before the Eid prayer commences. To make payments, click here: https://islamicrelief.org.au/our-work/islamic-giving/zakat-al-fitr-2026/
• Wudu Facilities: Please arrive with Wudu completed at home. Our facilities will be open, but we expect heavy congestion.
• Prayer Mats: Please bring your own prayer mat as overflow areas may be utilised.
• Parking & Traffic: Parking is always tight on Eid! We strongly encourage carpooling. Please park legally, respect our neighbours’ driveways, and follow the instructions of our dedicated parking volunteers at all times.

After the Prayer

Following the Salaah, we invite you to stay and exchange greetings! We look forward to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with you in prayer and celebrating this joyous occasion as a united community.

InshaAllah, *Salat al-Tarawih will begin on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, after Salat al-Isha. We will pray 20 raka‘at the (Wtir) prayer, starting from the beginning of the Qur’an and continuing nightly until we complete the Khatm al-Qur’an by the end of Ramadan, bi’ithnillah*

We warmly invite all Muslims in Geelong to join us for Salat al-Isha and Tarawih. After 4 Rakat, a short reminder, we will continue the prayer until completion each night, inshaAllah.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever prays with the Imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him as if he prayed the whole night.” (Tirmidhi)

Thursday is expected to be the first day of Ramadan. Those following other schools of thought are highly encouraged to join us in the Tarawih prayer tomorrow with the intention of Qiyam al-Layl, as night prayer is a Sunnah every night. By attending, you will not miss the blessing of completing the Qur’an with us, inshaAllah.

Important Tarawih Etiquettes & Advice:

– Come in your best clothes, and wear good perfume, as the Prophet ﷺ loved fragrance.

– Bring water with you and avoid overeating at iftar so you don’t feel sleepy.

– ⁠Please wear socks in the masjid 

– Listen to the Qur’an with khushu‘ and tadabbur, reflecting on the words of Allah.

– Avoid arguments, comparisons between masjids or imams, and differences of schools — come with unity and sincerity.

– Renew your niyyah, asking Allah for forgiveness and acceptance; even two sincere raka‘at can be greater than many without focus.

– Dear sisters, you are most welcome to attend Tarawih and Khatm al-Qur’an — please kindly supervise children and minimise noise so others can listen peacefully.

– Be mindful of neighbours’ comfort, arrive and depart quietly and park responsibly.

May Allah make this Ramadan a month of change, mercy, forgiveness, and freedom from the Hellfire. Ameen

Shaykh Moaaz Al Hawari has joined the ISG as our Head Imam, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in Islamic theology, Fiqh, Hadith and more.

We are excited to work with Shaykh Moaaz Al Hawari and hope that his presence will help to enliven our Mosque community and build the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, inshaAllah.

BACKGROUND & QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s in Tafsir & ʿUlūm al-Qur’an (Excellent GPA 3.76) – MEDIU, Malaysia

Bachelor’s in Islamic Sciences (Hadith) – Al-Azhar University, Egypt

Diploma in Information Technology – (Australia)

EXPERIENCES:

Over 20 years of international experience in Islamic education, daʿwah, and community leadership across Australia, Malaysia, the Middle East, and the Philippines.

Former Imam and Chaplain in Townsville and Canberra, serving the Muslim community in prayer leadership, counselling, and youth mentoring.

Executive Director of Mensahe TV (Philippines), producing Islamic educational media and daʿwah programs for global audiences.

Speaker, khatīb, and lecturer, delivering Friday sermons, conferences, and community programs on Qur’an, Hadith, and contemporary issues.

Curriculum developer of Qur’an memorisation programs, Tajwīd textbooks, and Islamic studies resources for schools and community organisations.
